Fast Five

Fast Five

If you’ve ever liked a Fast and Furious movie, you will definitely like this film, if you’ve never liked a Fast and Furious movie, you might actually like this one. Easily the best film since the original, and arguably even better, this film knows that it’s stupid and has a lot of fun with it, without being a self parody, just by not taking itself too seriously and having some truly great set piece visceral action scenes. Surprisingly good, especially for the fifth movie in a franchise.

A really smart film with some very overt references to Quantum Leap are all the ingredients needed for a great movie. Probably my favourite film of the year so far. Oh boy.

Sucker Punch

Sucker Punch

This feels less like a cohesive film, but rather 5 separate set piece action scenes pieced together almost arbitrarily into a feature length film. Visually it looks really cool, but never has a film ever been so vapid and lacking in genuine substance as this extended music video. Still, kind of cool.

Battle: Los Angeles

“Blackhawk Down” meets “Independence Day”. That pretty much sums it up. I thought it was a great film, loved it.

Halo: Reach

I always like me some Halo. Without meaning to make it sound like a bad thing, Halo: Reach is pretty much just a whole lot more of Halo. That’s cool. More of a good thing is fine by me.
