Here’s my pick of movies I’m most looking forward to this year. I skipped this feature last year because quite frankly the line up looked pretty lame, this year however looks like it’s stacked with some of the big budget cheesy blockbusters designed specifically for me.
5. Transformers: Dark of the Moon
Although both terrible and wonderful at the same time, I acknowledge the second movie was bad. So my expectations for the third are tempered greatly. However the quality of the first still reminds me that a kick ass film is possible.
I’m unsure if this movie is really going to play with the general public given the high concept of the mythical fantasy Norse God/Comicbook Superhero mix at play here, but the trailer impressed me more than I expected. Here’s hoping.
3. First Avenger: Captain America
Seen so little about this film I’m not sure what to expect, but I will be intrigued to see how Captain America works as a big budget film.
2. X-Men First Class
I’ve seen even less about this film so I simply don’t know what to expect. I know I like Kick Ass and Layer Cake so I have faith in Matthew Vaughn, and I’ve always loved the X-Men so I have some high hopes here.
1. Green Lantern
I’m looking forward to this film the most. Not because I think it is going to be any good, the first trailer dashed all hopes there. I want to see just how much of a train wreck this thing will turn out to be. I’ve always wanted to see The Green Lantern played out in a movie, seeing his powers in action, but this just looks like garbage. Looking forward to seeing just how terrible it ends up being.
