Here’s my pick of movies I’m most looking forward to this year. The general theme for me is that they’re films likely to be really bad, but I hope against hope out of fan-boy optimistism that they will be awesomeness.

5. Terminator Salvation

While I’m naturally skeptical of any James Cameron-less Terminator movie, the trailer looks cool and I’d like to see the actual war against the machines.

4. Watchmen

I really liked the graphic novel, so I’m interested to see how it’s converted onto the big screen.

3. X-Men Origins: Wolverine

With superheroes being hot property in Hollywood, this was the inevitable spin-off from the X-Men franchise, especially after Ratner effectively killed X-Men.

2. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

The first movie was rad, so I expect this will be radness x2. Nothing more needs to be said, can’t wait.

1. Star Trek

I acknowledge that my excitement for this is a result of massive optimism. I want so much for Star Trek to no longer suck, and the nostalgia factor for me is strong. I have lots of reservations about it, but I want it to be good, and that’s why I can’t wait to see.
