Must See for 2009 – Watchmen

2008 isn’t over yet and there are still quite a few movies I’m keen to see, (I still haven’t seen The Dark Knight yet!), but a newly released trailer has me excited about 2009. Watchmen, based on the Alan Moore graphic novel looks cool. Can’t wait.

  1. Ummm… that song in the background by Smashing Pumpkins – Isn’t that song the same one used for Batman and Robin?

The same Batman and Robin movie that killed the Batman movie series (for a while) with stupid lines like “Finally, a laundry service that Deliiifers” and “A freeesss is coming” delivered by an out-of-place Arnold Schwarzenegger?

Or is it actually a new Smashing Pumpkins song, but since they can’t seem to do anything good anymore thay are just re-treading old ground without realising that the music world has moved on?

Anyway, it seems like you are enjoying NZ, so that’s good. You will have to get to Japan at some stage though!

  2. I don’t think that song is the “official” song of the movie – in fact, I’ve heard that’s being done by My Chemical Romance and will be a cover of a Bob Dylan song. The rest of the music apparently will be pre-1985 stuff (since that’s when the movie is set…)

  3. UPDATE: Apparently the song from “Batman & Robin” is called “The End is the Beginning is the End”, and the song from the Watchmen teaser is called “The Beginning is the End is the Beginning”. The latter is the one more inclined to make you want to commit suicide, but only just.

  4. So – it turns out it was a B-side! If this movie is everything the blogosphere is cracking it up to be it deserves betterh then sloppy seconds!

And, My Chemical Romance is NOT an improvement!

(Wow – I can’t believe I actually used the word “blogosphere”. I feel dirty.)
