Being a big fan of Douglas Adams, with “The Hitichhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” my all time favourite book, I had always wanted to read “Dirk Gently”, but somehow just never got around to it. I finally got around to it, and it’s very similar in genre, being a sci-fi comedy, but I felt it was not even close to being in the same league as hitch hikers.
It’s a bizarre story, that claims there is a interconnectedness to even the most seemingly random things, and he uses this to stitch together very random elements together into a barely coherent story. For the overwhelming majority of the book it seems very aimless and just meanders until about the last twenty pages where it all comes together into an odd conclusion. It kind of felt like Adams had a publisher deadline he had to meet so he quickly wrapped things up before the courier arrived.
